Human health and quality of life are strongly linked to the quality of the local environment. A high quality of the environment is an essential factor for the quality of life, even in structurally weak and/or rural regions in countries with emerging markets.
For example, inadequate or non-existent wastewater treatment and the associated water reuse negatively impact the natural ecosystems (i.e. groundwater and arable land) as well as human habitats.
WaterReuseDrop (WaReDrop) provides a self-sufficient, efficient, robust and low-maintenance method for treating domestic wastewater and offers the potential for the reuse of water and nutrient flows, which can significantly increase the quality of life, especially in the targeted rural and infrastructurally weak regions.
Functionality of WaReDrop
WaReDrop closes (waste) water and nutrient cycles through the energy- and resource-efficient coupling of Natue Based Solution wastewater treatment.
This consists of a primary clarifier (e.g. drainless collection tank/sump tank), a trickling filter and the secondary clarifier (e.g. soil filter). This means that the nutrient-rich treated (waste) water and sewage sludge can continue to be used in agriculture and/or in combination with hydroponics/aquaponics (e.g. TinyFarmHouse).
The robust, low-energy operation and control are simple, clear and can be carried out with little effort. Due to the low level of technology, the system is particularly suitable for regions with inadequate infrastructure and a low level of education.
WaReDrop is easy to replicate and can be easily adapted to many districts and regions.
